Boroondara Eisteddfod

The annual Boroondara Eisteddfod runs from April to June and provides a forum for musicians and vocalists to test their talents and the opportunity to perform in front of an audience.

Entrants range from primary school students to young adult virtuosos.

A wide range of skills are displayed, from beginners appearing in their first competition, to students who have achieved formal qualifications and studied internationally.

Each year over 150 prize-winners are sought in over 50 events including vocal, piano, strings, woodwind, brass, choral, guitar and chamber groups.

Adjudicators award prizes at the conclusion of each section and provide comments. Each contestant is also provided with a critique of their individual performance.

Concerts associated with this year's Eisteddfod include:

  • Brass Concerto Final with Kew Band, 2pm, Sunday 24 May
  • Robert Salzer Vocal Championship Final, 7.30pm, Friday 29 May
  • Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra Piano Concerto Award Final, 2pm, Sunday 31 May

This year's Showcase Concert will be held at 2pm, Saturday 25 July.
